FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who Should Get a Chemical Peel?

If you experience any of the following skin conditions, you may be an ideal candidate for a chemical peel:

  • Poor skin texture
  • Dull complexion
  • Rough or dry skin
  • Acne and other blemishes
  • Hyper or hypo pigmentation

For more details you can consult doctors at CMA Primary and MedVana Center.

What to expect during your procedure?

CMA Primary and MedVana Center experts try to make you feel comfortable in the beginning. After that your skin will be thoroughly prepped and cleansed by your skin care expert. Any pain relief, if indicated, will be administered. Then, one to four coats of the solution will be applied to the treatment area. As we have established, the number of coats will depend on your skin’s condition and your particular aesthetic goals.

During the procedure, you may experience a mild burning sensation. Fans can relieve this discomfort and are available for your use during the procedure if needed. The entire process usually takes 20-45 minutes. Immediately post-treatment, your skin will retain a bluish tint, but this should wash off within 24-48 hours.

How does it Work?

The active ingredient in chemical Peel is TCA (Trichloracetic Acid), which is used in different proportions by experts of CMA Primary and MedVana Center according to your own unique needs. The Peel application allows your practitioner to safely and effectively remove the damaged surface layers of skin from your face or other parts of your body. These dead skin cells are replaced by new, healthy ones, giving your complexion renewed clarity and elasticity

How is it Administered?

All Chemical Peel treatments can be given at 8-week intervals until the desired effect is achieved. For most patients, 1-2 peels are sufficient. Once the desired level of correction is reached, maintenance treatments are recommended by experts of CMA Primary and MedVana Center to ensure long-term benefits.

Who is a candidate?

As the Dr. Tallapureddy  of CMA Primary and MedVana Center suggests that wide spectrum of people can benefit from the chemical peel. Those who are in good health, over 18, and would like to address any of these common problems are all potential candidates.

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Scarring
  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots
  • Acne
  • Skin laxity

If you’ve tried everything available in the departmental store to improve or camouflage your complexion but nothing worked for you then you could be a perfect fit for this aesthetic treatment.

Do Chemical peels cause pain?

The intensity of pain obviously varies from different things to different people. In general, the deeper the peel, the greater the chance you’ll feel some discomfort. But most patients at CMA Primary and MedVana Center report only a mild burning or stinging sensation associated with the procedure. A fan blowing on the area being treated provides relief for many patients.

How long does the procedure take?

The typical Peel treatment at CMA Primary and MedVana Center takes about 20-45 minutes, depending on the number of coats deemed necessary for optimum results.

How long does it Last?

The corrective effects of a chemical Peel are permanent but, unfortunately, cannot retain over time. Therefore, after your first peel, you may require another to achieve your desired level of rejuvenation. If you follow your prescribed skincare regimen, a maintenance treatment offered by CMA Primary and MedVana Center every 6-12 months can keep your skin fresh and glowing.

When Will I see results?

Immediately after your peel, you may experience mild swelling. According to experts at CMA Primary and MedVana Center, it is quite normal. Within 2 or 3 days, your skin will begin to peel and will continue to do so for roughly 7 to 10 days. Once the peeling has stopped, the dramatic results of your treatment will immediately become apparent. The appearance of your skin will steadily improve over the next 4-6 weeks, gradually becoming firmer, smoother, and more youthful looking.

What are the Potential Complications?

Once again, the deeper the peel and the darker your skin, the higher your risk for complications.

The most common side effects include:

  • Swelling
  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Skin infections
  • Keloid scars
  • Acne flare-ups

Most of these problems can be avoided by strict patient compliance with the pre- and post-procedure skin care regimen that consultants at CMA Primary and MedVana Center strictly follow.
